The Cote D’Azur Triangle

Production History:

The Cote D’Azur Triangle was first performed in New York as part of Double Image Theatre mini-festival, “Plays by Harry Kondoleon,” at John Jay College in June of 1982, on a double bill with Self Torture and Strenuous Exercise. It was directed by the author, and the cast was:

Jordan: Charley Lang
Cleo: Martitia Palmer
Hunter: Jerry Whiddon

Before that, it was performed as a student production at Yale Drama School, directed by the author, with Elizabeth Norment, Steven Hendrickson, and Mitchell Lichtenstein in the cast. (pictured below)

Published:

The Cote D’Azur Triangle was first published in 1985 by Vincent Fitz Gerald & Co. in a fine-art edition illustrated by Mark Beard. The paintings for the book were exhibited at the Harcus Gallery in Boston November 2-December 4, 1985. On the occasion of the opening, there was a panel discussion, “Points Along the Cote D’Azur Triangle,” moderated by David P. Becker, assistant curator of prints, drawings, and photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. And Michael Feingold, Village Voice drama critic, directed a staged reading of the play. The gallery and Vincent Fitz Gerald produced a handsome catalog for the show that included interviews with Kondoleon and Beard as well as reproductions of some pages from the illustrated edition. You can read those interviews and see the samples here.
